A few good national parks need to be visited in Ecuador. We had a really good time in Podocarpus National Park. The trekkeing was not particulair special, but the cabin we slept in was completely deserted and it had a fire place that we could lit at night. So we did ....
A few days and cities later we arrived in Alausi. Nothing special in the city itself, but the train ride to the Devil's nose is very spectaculair. They said. We thought it was nothing special and liked the part from Alausi to Riobamba much more. First the train was almost empty after dropping off
all the tourists in Alausi again. We shared the roof with 4 other tourists. Second the scenery was much better. Kids came running out of houses or stopped just along the way to wave at the train. One word of advise: Check the weather report before boarding. We had a heavy rain storm just 30 minutes prior to arrival in Riobamba and sitting on the roof of a train there are better things to happen. |
